Learning at Work Day
Thursday 29th October 2009

Thank You
Thank you to everyone who took part and attended. Special thanks go to Tom, Martin, Sascha and Bash , everyone who helped arrange the events, Kevin and all the DWP trainers, and senior managers who gave up their time.
The event was a great success, over 200 staff attended and many people signed up for NVQ/BTEC courses and expressed an interest in a variety of subjects. A more detailed survey/report will be organised in future, after our lead Union Learning Rep, Tom has a well earned holiday and has time to liaise with DWP training staff to plan and collaborate. The main reason for the success of the event was the involvement and enthusiasm of the staff who attended, checking all the stalls, and participating in the days activities.
Thanks also go to Leicester College, and PCS Credit Union speakers who contributed to the day. It was interesting to talk to so many colleagues with wide ranging educational interests, such as music, computers, reading, cooking, history and foreign languages. The diversity of peoples past times, and studies reflecting the diversity of the centre itself. A great day, enjoyed by many. Thanks go to local management for their support and collaboration.
"With all their faults, trade unions have done more for humanity than any other organization of men that ever existed. They have done more for decency, for honesty, for education, for the betterment of the race, for the developing of character in men, than any other association of men."
