Your local branch supports the national union and thanks all members for their strong and continued support. It is this unity and support that enables your local reps to successfully represent members on all the issues we face.
We know that our members are ordinary hard working people, often juggling families and other committments and trying to manage on low pay. Simply put staff who have worked hard (often for decades) to provide good public service, do not want to be made unemployed and left with very reduced settlement offers.
PCS is keenly aware of the plight of people working in the private sector, or those without union representation. The answer to these difficulties is not worse conditions for those in the public sector, it is BETTER conditions for all, private and public sector.
PCS is one of the biggest unions in the country with over 300,000 members. Unity is strength.

Our local branch has opened a new Facebook group which members locally can join . We hope to use this to help rapidly spread information and updates to members, and to open another channel to communicate news and views between all of us. This has been arranged by our Branch Learning Co-ordinator Tom, who has done excellent work for members locally. My kids tell me, it's the 21st Century and I should wake up and get connected.. so I've even given it a go myself. Don't let that put you off though, Tom is in charge and it seems very well organised to me !
