We are hoping to build resources and links on our local website to promote training and learning opportunities for all staff. In the fast moving world we live having the right skills to succeed in life and the workplace are essential requirements for everyone. The years ahead are likely to see even faster changes in technology and its applications and uses. Literacy and numeracy skills are only part of the skills people will need to adapt to these changes.
In 2002 the Government launched major legislation to improve skills and training for all working people. Even within our own Department the announcement of redundancies has brought home the need to consider our individual skills and qualifications in a changing work environment.
